Winter Fun!

Rusty here,

I hope everyone had a fantastic, productive week!  Since we finally have some snow on the ground, I can’t wait to embrace the cold to enjoy all my favorite winter activities!  Silver, Copper, and I love to get together and have a snowdragon making contest. It’s just like a snowman, but in dragon form. It’s a winter tradition for us and they always turn out great!  Somehow our contest always turns into a snowball throwing battle, which is equally as fun!  We also like to hit the slopes and spend the afternoon skiing.  There are endless fun activities to enjoy during the long winters.  A few more of my favorite outdoor activities include, sledding, ice skating, building a snow fort, and so much more!  Drinking a steaming cup of hot cocoa is the best way to warm up after a chilly time outside.  Indoors, I enjoy making cookies, decorating my dragon lair for the holidays, and listening to Christmas music.  What are some of everyones’ favorite winter activities?; indoor or outdoor, leave your answer in the comments below!  If all the winter fun wasn’t enough to get you excited, tomorrow is National Ugly Sweater Day!  If you don’t have one in your closet already, go get one!  Or you can make one with an old sweater and miscellaneous craft supplies you have at home.  Remember, there is no such thing as a bad ugly sweater, they are all unique in their own way!  Winter can be so much fun, just be sure to bundle up to enjoy the season with your loved ones!

Until Next Time,

Rusty

P.S. 8 more days until Christmas!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Rusty here,

Although we may not have the whole family gathered around the table this year,  we can still give thanks and celebrate all of our Thanksgiving traditions on a smaller scale.  My day starts at 9:00am sharp, to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade of course!  I know I should say the inflatable characters are my favorite part because they fly really high like me, but i must confess, I love the Radio City Rockettes. Then, I start “helping” my mom in the kitchen, and by helping I mean, I taste test all the food!  Someone has to do it, right!?  Up next, the main event, the Thanksgiving Day feast!  Our table is filled with delicious dishes.  Some of my favorites include, green bean casserole, stuffing, and the giant turkey! Oh, and I can’t forget the pumpkin pie, I could eat the whole thing myself!  After that, the day usually ends in all of us taking a nap because we stuffed our bellies too full and can barely walk.  Not a bad problem to have!  As I said before, Thanksgiving looks a little different this year but instead of getting blue, let’s remember the things we are thankful for!  I am thankful for my health, my family, and the food in my belly.  What are you guys most thankful for this year?  Leave your responses in the comment box below!  Happy Turkey day everyone!

Until Next Time,

Rusty

National Play Monopoly Day!

Rusty here,

I hope everyone is having a fantastic week so far!  If you find yourself with nothing to do today, celebrate National Play Monopoly Day with me today!  I know what you’re thinking already, “that game takes hours to finish”, but hear me out, if I can knock out 3+ hours of boredom, sign me up! Ask some of your family members to sit and play with you, and make sure you have snacks!  The first monopoly game was created by Charles Darrow in 1933.  It has been created in 47 languages and is sold in 114 countries.  Also, it has been played by over one billion people in our world, crazy right?!  This fact will blow your mind, the longest game of Monopoly set a world record at 70 days! That is competitive determination at its finest.  Since the original game was made almost 90 years ago,  there are now many different versions of the game where you can pass go and collect $200!  A few that I’ve played include Dog-Opoly, Frozen 2 Monopoly, and Minnesota-Opoly.  I saw they now have a Hallmark Channel Monopoly, I’m putting that one on my Christmas wishlist!  Whatever version you have at home, let’s play in honor of this national day! Hey, that rhymed!

Until Next Time,

Rusty

Happy Halloween!

Rusty Here,

SNOW in October!  Can you believe it?!  Don’t let the snow fool you though, Halloween is still on!  If you guys are like me, you might struggle every year choosing your costumes.  There is just so many neat costume to choose from, its hard to pick just one.  This year, my friends and I, Silver and Copper, are going with a group costume, the 3 blind mice!  I am so excited to fly around house to house trick-or-treating to collect lots of candy!  Have you guys decided on your costumes yet?  I think going as a dragon would be a perfect costume, but maybe I’m just bias.  If you haven’t decided yet, don’t worry, there is still lots of fun Halloween activities to inspire you!  My favorite thing to do when October rolls around, is carving pumpkins!  It’s a fall tradition in our family.  Another thing I like to do during this season is make lots of spooky treats.  My all time favorite is making those Pillsbury cookies with the little pumpkins or mini ghosts pictures on them.  They’re so easy and SO yummy, you can’t go wrong!  I also recommend going to at least one haunted house or hay ride.  They are very thrilling and really get you in the halloween spirit!  However you celebrate the Halloween season, whatever costume you choose, I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween night!

Until Next Time,

Rusty

Back To School: COVID-19 Edition

Rusty Here,

Hello everyone!  I know I’m a bit late to the game, but welcome back to school!  COVID-19 has affected many things in our world today but now that it time to go back to school, it is making its mark on kids’ education.  I have heard many things while out and flying about, such as kids struggling from strictly online learning, or kids that are back in their school building part time but must wear a mask full time.  I’m sure either one has its own challenges because it is SO different from what we are all use to.  If someone told me that one day I’d be living during a world wide pandemic where masks are required everywhere outside of your home, I would have thought they were crazy!!  However, this is our reality for now, and I hope you guys join me in staying positive and making the most of everyday!  I’ve always been told, do not be afraid of change, although you will face challenges, almost daily, we can only learn and grow from it!  My parents instilled that in me when I was a young dragon so I just had to share that with you guys!  Masks or no masks, in school or at home, how is everyone doing with the change?  Are you excited to be back to school?  Or are you concerned about being back?  Kids or Parents, let me know in the comments box below!!  I’d love to hear your feedback!

I hope everyone has a great rest of their week, and remember we are all in this together!  You got this!

Until Next Time,

Rusty

National Relaxation Day!

Rusty here,

I hope everyone has had fantastic week!  I’ve been trying to enjoy the weather with my friends outside.  Even when it was rainy out, there is still lots of ways to make the most of the day.  Puddle jumping/splashing is my personal favorite.  Getting outside and just spending time with good company is one of my favorite things to do.  That reminds me… this Saturday is National Relaxation Day!  As for me, my favorite way to relax is grabbing my shades, and heading to the beach with Copper and Silver.  I was a little under the weather earlier this week so, this weekend, putting all my worries away and laughing with my friends and spending time outside my dragon lair is just what the doctor ordered!  But some days, I don’t even need to leave home to find peace and relaxation.  Sometimes relaxation is a quiet evening reading a book, or just binge watching my favorite show on Netflix all day. I’ve been really into Fuller House lately but I’m always open to recommendations!  Especially in these times, I believe it is important to find what helps you relax and make sure you are taking care of YOU!  What are some ways you guys like to relax?  Whatever it looks like, make sure you take time for yourself this Saturday and just relax and enjoy your life!

Until Next Time,

Rusty

National Amelia Earhart Day

Rusty Here,

How is everyone’s week going?  I feel like summer is just flying by!  Speaking of flying, tomorrow is National Amelia Earhart Day!  Amelia Earhart is famous for being the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.  She is also known for flying solo from Hawaii to the United States mainland.  That flight, on average, takes about 5 hours.  I can’t imagine flying that far by myself!  Amelia Earhart was born on July 24th, 1897 then, she mysteriously disappeared at the age of 39 on July 2nd, 1937.  She was en route to Howland Island.  Some say she became a victim to the Bermuda Triangle, others say her plane malfunctioned and it sank to the bottom of the ocean.  The conspiracy theories are endless but, no one really knows for sure.  Her accomplishments she achieved in her lifetime will live on forever.  Those include, many more aviation records, and writing best-selling books about her flying experiences.  It would’ve been really neat to fly along side her, I bet she was a pretty incredible lady!  “The most effective way to do it, is to do it” -Amelia Earhart.

Until Next Time,

Rusty

National Cheer Up the Lonely Day!

Rusty here,

Hello Everyone!  I hope everyone enjoyed their Fourth of July!   I got together with my closest friends, Copper and Silver to celebrate the day.  We started off by swimming in the lake to beat the heat, then we cooled off with some bomb-pop popsicles, and to finish the night, we set off massive fireworks that lit up the night sky.  They were even brighter than my fire breath, crazy right!?  How do you guys celebrate the Fourth of July?  Saturday, July 11th, is National Cheer Up the Lonely Day.  In these times, I think everyone can get pretty lonely and down in the dumps.  I know I did when I couldn’t see my friends during quarantine! I encourage everyone reading this to reach out to someone you haven’t seen or talked to you in a while and just say hello, or ask them how they are doing!  It could really brighten their day, maybe even their week!

I hope everyone stays safe and has a great weekend!

Until Next Time,

Rusty

National Canned Food Month

Rusty Here,

Hello Everyone! How was your weekend? Mine was great! Silver, Copper, and I volunteered, hung out, and enjoyed each other’s company. The weather was just amazing, so we were outside a lot of the weekend.

Since the month of February is National Canned Food Month, Silver, Copper, and I decided to volunteer at the Food Shelf. We didn’t have any canned food to donate so volunteering was the next best thing! If you have any free time, consider volunteering.  It is a rewarding experience.

The three of us love to volunteer and help in our community, especially when the weather is nice! What kind of volunteer opportunities do you have in your community? What can you do to help out? Everything makes a difference, big or small!

I can’t wait to hear what different activities you guys volunteered for!

Until Next Time,

Rusty

National Ice Cream Day

Rusty Here,

Hello everyone, I hope you guys enjoyed the warm weather this weekend! Silver, Copper, and I all defiantly soaked up the sun. This weekend was very busy for us as we wanted to be outside all weekend. Friday night we had a game night at the lair. One of the games was like a scavenger hunt. Silver, Copper, and I all walked around outside and wrote down different objects we wanted each other to find. Can you guess what we did next?! If you said make it a race and the winner gets ice cream you were correct! In case you wanted to know I won of course! But we all celebrated and ate ice cream. Saturday and Sunday consisted of nature walks and watching movies. This weekend was a blast!

Did you know that today is National Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day?! If you didn’t get your bowl of Ice Cream in this morning have some Ice Cream for dessert. If you really love Ice Cream like me eat it as your meal for dinner. What’s your favorite kind of Ice Cream? My favorite kind of Ice Cream in Neapolitan!

Until Next Time,

Rusty
